course will introduce you to a variety of techniques used by forensic scientists
to solve crimes. We will explore
how fiction authors both anticipate future forensic tools, and utilize current
techniques in their storytelling. As
part of the course, we will discuss issues such as validity of methods, accuracy
of methods, ethical considerations in detective work, and the use of forensic
data in the court system. You will
also try your hand at some detective work, analyzing clues and determining the
guilty party. BEWARE, the guilty
party may be you.
