Technical Help

To complete this class, you must either work on a Hiram College computer with the standard features or have access to the Internet and email from your own computer. Be sure that your browser is a recent version of Internet Explorer such as 6.0 or Netscape 6.1 or you may have trouble reading this course.

Please use your Hiram email as your email name during this class.  I cannot keep track of both a personal and a Hiram email.  Sorry.

You will also need to use the basic functions of a word processing program, preferably Microsoft Word, to type resumes and cover letters and to create your Portfolio. More complex functions can be learned during the class, if necessary. Email Candy Painley, the administrative assistant in the Career Center, at painleyck@hiram.edu if you have word processing questions.

Fortunately, the Hiram College network is rarely down so I don’t anticipate difficulty logging onto the Internet or sending email. Other technical requirements:

   See Portfolio
Sending email attachments:  When you click "New Mail" to send me an email, you will see three tabs - Message, Attachments, and Options.  To send an attachment, click into the Attachments tab where a field is provided to enter the name of the file you want to send to me.  If you have that file open at the bottom of your screen, you can bring it up, right click your mouse, choose "copy" to copy the address, minimize that page and return to Attachments in your email and right click and "paste" the address into the email.  Then click the box "Add Attachment Now" and the file will automatically be included in your email.
