Description
The
Web Content feature allows site owners to choose a website to display
within the Sakai frame. The "Web Content" link in the left-hand menu
is customizable so you can create a label that matches the website
you've chosen to display.

Examples of use
Instructors
who want to provide many links to websites for their students may
choose to list them all in Resources, but choose the most important for
the Web Content feature.
Departments, collaborations, or
other groups may choose to use Web Content to provide a prominent link
to their public website within their Sakai website.

Putting information into
the Web Content window
1 Open a course or project site.
2 Open the site's home page if it is not already
open by clicking the Home button in the menubar.
3 Click the Options... button in the Web Content window.
4 You will see the following options:
Display this worksite's description
Display this URL

To have a webpage appear

You may need to refresh your browser to

A Click the circle next to the Display Worksite
Description
B Click Save
You may need to refresh your browser to
view your new web content page.

If you typed text into the
"description" box when you created the site, that text will appear in
the worksite information box on the home page. If you did not type text
in the description box at that time, you can add it now:
A Be sure you have clicked Save or Cancel to leave
the Options... page.
B Click My
Workspace
C Click Worksite
Setup
D Click the box next to the course site.
E Click Revise.
F Under About this site, click Site description and information.
G Type a description in the box provided.
H Click Save
I Click Finish
J Open that site again. The description should
appear in the Web Content window.

To display an html file of
your own, use the Display this URL option.
First, create the html file and upload it
into your site's Resources. Some find it convenient to make a folder
first, such as "site files," to hold the site's administrative files.
Once uploaded, you need to find the html file's URL to use in the
"Display this URL" field on the Options form, as described below:
A Highlight the html file's URL in the Resources
list.
B Using your browser's Copy command, copy the URL.
C Return to the site's home page by clicking the Home button
at the top of the menubar.
D Click Options... in the Worksite Information window.
E Click the round button next to Display this URL.
E Copy the URL into the Display this URL field
F Click Save
This puts the URL to the file into the
Display this URL field. Now the Web Content window will display your
html file.
