The Center for Literature, Medicine, and Biomedical Humanities""Text Box: I knew I wanted to major in science, specifically biomedical humanities. So why not take the fast track?   I get to shave off an entire year, which is nice when you think about the long road ahead in medical school.
Even if I were to change my mind about becoming a doctor the biomedical humanities major can take me several places.   That was my dad’s thinking as well.  My mom, however, didn’t want me to enter the  accelerated program at first. She was worried it would be too hard, but I knew I could get through it.   I’m not saying it’s easy—of course not—but we wouldn’t have signed up for the program if we intended on slacking off.   It wouldn’t be worth as much if it wasn’t challenging.
The Biology course that a majority of the accelerated program members are taking this summer has six professors (even better than the 11 to 1 ratio most Hiram classes have!)  We have six professors for three students! We basically get tutored in each professor’s specialty discipline during class time.  The professors make this program worth it.

Text Box: The accelerated program has just celebrated its inaugural year.  Highly selective, the program only accepts up to 16 students per year, placing them on the track to earn their Bachelor of Arts in three years.  Students of the accelerated program study year round and will likely go on to enroll in medical, veterinarian, or other specialized schools.
